Botany

The Department of Botany came into existence in 1992 with a view to prepare the students of Minority community specially girls. Desirous of learning, understanding, teaching and practicing various aspects of plant science. The Department is known for its multidisciplinary character and has earned recognition at national level for its standards of teaching and research. The Department is proud of having produced eminent scholars, Teachers and administrators who occupy high positions within and outside the country. In view of its academic excellence, the Department has the distinction of having one of best botany laboratories. The Department offers teaching in the subject of Botany at the under-graduate level viz., B.Sc. (Botany) with the efforts of Prof. Fareeda S.Ansari. Afterwards she had joined with the Dr.B.M.Patil in 1999 having a broad vision and best teaching skills for the development of students and department. Dr.B.M.Patil was very popular teacher among the students. He was also awarded with Fellow Member of Directorate of Proteomics by IASR in 2018. Prof. Farida Ansari retired from the department in 2016 with her successful teaching period. After words Dr. Yahyakhan Amirkhan Pathan Joined the department in August 2019. The Department takes a conscious effort to expand its teaching program bringing together novel developments in the field with traditional areas of Botany through field excursions and projects. The students are coached and encouraged through remedial teaching and academic guidance. Our mission is to strive for an excellent environment for learning and research in Botany / plant sciences and produce graduates and post graduates equipped with skills necessary to fulfil their role in contemporary society. Our vision is to maintain our position as the premier department of higher learning and research in Botany / plant sciences and to further commit ourselves to academic excellence.
